Description

New look! As of Arc 14 and onward! The old coat still exists, but he only wears it on work days. c:

Akihiko's Character Theme: Abingdon Boys School - JAP

"The passion boiling in my smoldering soul, tightens my chest.
Some way, with my blood burning, I'll find my place!
Under the radar, I'm reaching for the sky!

Bare your fangs of steel, raise your voice into a shout,
I'M GONNA LIVE OUT MY LIFE UNTAMED!"

Look how much my boy as grown!

Akihiko was pretty renowned for his short temper, boisterous persona, and insensitive remarks.
He was always quick to pick fights, and had the moves to back up his cocky, tough guy attitude.
He's always had an obsession with Shinobi, being strong, being a man, and being 'the best,'
even being recognized as one of the strongest within his class wasn't enough for him.
His life goal: Surpass the Rank system, becoming greater than the rank Akarikage itself.

Despite this - Akihiko valued his friends greatly and stood up for them in the worst of situations,
even if an assortment of rude names and death threats towards them suggested otherwise.
The biggest misconception about Akihiko is that he was a spiteful and wanted to hurt people,
when in reality - he was just ignorant, confused, and rather blunt - There's no intention to be mean.

With Akihiko having no parents - he became rather independent early on - and accustomed to solitude.
He wasn't used to having attention or being touched all the time - and in fact had a slight phobia to it.
so he detested when Tarou adopted him and forced him into a touchy family - despite secretly liking it.

Another notable trait of Akihiko that many people weren't aware of was his superiority/inferiority complex.
He always acted superior to others and was cocky - but in retrospect, he felt like he was below them,
and needed to surpass them. Whether this was to impress them, or impress himself - even he is not sure.

Over the Time-Skip, Akihiko underwent quite a big change due to a variety of big impacts on him.

The first Major impact was the death of Tarou, which probably had the biggest impact on Akihiko,
as Tarou was the one person who had always been watching, always taking care, always criticizing him.
Tarou had taught him many things in life - And by the time he began to appreciate them, it was too late.
Having been too young to remember his parents death, it was his first big loss, and he was full of regrets.
Immediately after he had responsibility thrust upon him as Tarou passed his title of Akarikage onto him,
unable to cope with the weight of responsibility, and the feelings of abandonment from Tarou's passing,
he developed a new found uncertainty within - Realizing he wasn't as "Strong" as he thought he was.

He then left the village for a period of two years to, "Find a quiet place to sit down and think."
During this time, Akihiko spent a lot of time contemplating old talks with Tarou and reading into them,
he was left with two questions, "What is true Strength?" and "What am I, if I'm not strong?"

After nearly a year of training, wandering the land, meditating to practice anger management,
he came to the conclusion that Strength isn't about having no weaknesses, or powerful techniques.
Strength is Equal to Inner Peace: accepting one's own flaws - and working to improve them,
that everyone has a center - that they must find and defeat before they can truly become strong.

For Akihiko, that was his loved ones - While he attributed his strength purely to himself, deep down,
he wanted to be strong so he could prevent what happened with his parents from happening again,
and with Tarou's death - It was as though all his life trying to become strong was a complete failure.
He was determined to become a warrior with no weaknesses - a warrior who could take on an army alone,
but the more he thought about it - the more he realized his 'strength' didn't come from him training alone.
Fighting side by side with Miki, being Encouraged by Tarou, wanting to match Mugon - gave him his strength.
He didn't become strong because he spent every day of his life battering trees in the woods behind his house,
he became strong because of the people he cared about encouraging him and supporting him the whole way,
and more importantly - he wanted to protect them - that was his true center - his true reason to be strong.

Two years after his Departure from Tōrōgakure he returns home, as a new man, a reborn man, a Master Elementalist!

Having spent a lot of time speaking with villagers outside of Tōrōgakure, he's drastically improved his people skills,
and become somewhat friendlier - but don't be surprised at the odd insult or remark, he is still Akihiko after all.
With his initial insecurities gone, Akihiko has accepted his weaknesses and given up on the pursuit of being 'The Best,'
becoming somewhat humble and more interested in teaching others - or learning from them - than showing them up.
But new insecurities have arisen with the pressure of responsibility as head of a village - but he is not scared, only nervous.

As well, Having realized his real source of strength - he's reduced the amount of training he does to allow for other things.
Though he can still be found in the graveyard training on the water before Narukami falls everyday at sunset,
he fills more time than he used to with other hobbies, like fishing, eating spicy foods, playing the shakuhachi,
or spending time with his friends. Nowadays, Akihiko is more the type to initiate conversation than to wait for one,
but he still has his limits - and enjoys peace and quiet alone, often napping under a tree or lingering in the graveyard.

Thanks to frequent meditation, his anger management has significantly improved - reducing his violent outbursts,
But nobody's perfect! Imagine a bottle - though he doesn't lose his cool as often - when he does, it's frightening!
Much like in his youth - when he loses his temper - he is nearly impossible to stop, and becomes quite aggressive.

In the end - Akihiko is still himself: boisterous, energetic, a bit blunt - Enjoys sparring, training and spicy foods.
But he's a lot more at peace with himself - No longer feeling the need to pick fights or prove his worth.
He's quite busy with paperwork, and as such - has had to grow up and accept the responsibility of his position,
but just like back at the academy - it's not a rare sight for him to skip out on work to go out and play,
especially since Akihiko prefers being outside, whether it's napping under a tree - or enjoying a thunderstorm.
His humbler, somewhat friendlier self is still a surprise to many, and the lessened outbursts catch people off guard,
but when he does blow his top off - it's like nothing has changed. Everyone shakes their head and goes, "Oh, Akihiko."

Notable Bonds of Akihiko's during this time:
Miki Yamita: Akihiko's closest friend, his first friend, his teammate, and partner in crime.
Miki Yamita and Akihiko have always had an interesting relationship full of games and fighting.
Often on the battlefield they partner up, but at home, they often spar against each other!
Akihiko has always felt a bit guilty about hitting Miki due to her being a girl, He's not sure why.

After Tarou's death, Miki didn't take well to Akihiko leaving and attempted to stop him,
but upon his return - was the first person to catch him, sharing a moment of quiet together.

During the Clan Wars, due to pressure from Miki's new family - the Minawa - Miki would stop seeing Akihiko,
but this didn't last long. Upon seeing a gravely injured Akihiko on the battlefield, Miki rushed to his side -
Alongside Kei, the Medic - Refusing to abandon him until the battle was over, and Akihiko confirmed alive.

As of now, Akihiko and Miki's relationship is back to normal. When Akihiko chose to strike off and find Satoshi,
Miki followed after - But not before reassuring Mugon that once they got back, they would all drink together.

Mugon Uranami: Akihiko and Mugon had one of the most bitter rivalries imaginable by men,
but after the two both lost their fathers, Mugon eased up on Akihiko and vice versa - After all these years,
the two boys finally had something in common. As a result, a new level of understanding was born.

Nowadays, they work together - after realizing their strengths compliment each other quite well.
Though Mugon is not his preferred partner, he will never turn down his invaluable assistance.

Though the two are close friends, Mugon still gets frustrated with Akihiko from time to time,
often having to chase him down and battle him in order to get him to do his paperwork for the village.
It is an exhausting, but close bond of friendship that Akihiko would never give up! Does Mugon feel the same?

Enkou Akiyama: As a Crimson Snow Orphan, Enkou is one of Akihiko's friends who truly understands him.
As they grew older, their talks would become less fun and games, and more serious - Especially when about their parents,
whom the two boys knew very little about. Although Enkou had his adoptive parents, Akihiko's had hidden his records,
leaving his previous name (he was renamed by Tarou), and his parents names a complete mystery...

During the Clan Wars in the village, Enkou did not choose a faction - Supporting Akihiko personally.
He was also there when Akihiko was felled in battle, and protected him while Kei tried to save his life.
and again he would come to his side when Satoshi was reported ambushed - Offering his assistance,
as well as his strategies to attempt to rescue him. As such, Enkou is a trusted friend he can rely on,
and someone whom Akihiko holds a great deal of respect for. Many say Enkou is to Akihiko,
as Hideaki was to Seidou - But Akihiko doesn't really understand what this saying means.

- Ryota Hitoyo: A longtime rival of Akihiko's, the two shared a love of fighting and often sparred together.
Ryota was the only one who would fight at his fullest against Akihiko, which earned him a lot of respect.
The two used wind - though very differently - Making battles between them devastating to anything caught in the blast!

As they grew older, they had less time to fight with each other - With Ryota as the new Clan Leader,
and Akihiko as the Akarikage - they are often too busy and exhausted by the end of the day to battle.
But when they do, they are sure to tear up half the village in the outcome!

Kaito Ryouichi: Akihiko's very first friend, a brother of the orphanage whom he spent his days with.
At age five however, when he was adopted by Tarou - A rift surged between the two, leading to an intense rivalry.
As they got older, their rivalry became more intense! Eventually, they fought in the
Chūnin exam (Akihiko won),
a fight that was fueled by passion - But ended with a firm fixing of what was close to a broken friendship.
Since the fight, their rivalry took on a more friendly nature - Though they still spoke often with their fists!

However, after Akihiko's departure - the two both did a fair bit of maturing, by the time of his return,
the two were back to being friends like they were in the old days, with their rivalry ultimately quelled.

Kei Haru: Another friend of Akihiko's, they played together a lot at the orphanage but grew apart when he left.
Akihiko also fought Kei in the
Chūnin exam, crippling his arm with a wind technique in the outcome of the fight. However,
in a show of good sportsmanship, Akihiko helped him up and promised they would rematch one day - Kei passed on that though.

Later in life, as the black wings of death closed in on Akihiko - A sole Medic would lend effort to save his life, Kei Haru.
After saving him from the brink of Death, Akihiko would rest in the hospital for two weeks without waking.
Here Kei, and other Medics would look after his state - Making sure that one day, he would awaken.

Just after he got out, Akihiko was injured and poisoned by the enemy before being lured by a Genjutsu.
While extracting the Poisoned Senbon, once again saving his life - The possessed Akihiko would strike Kei,
destroying his hand completely and causing damage to his chest, an action that would haunt Akihiko forever.
Currently Akihiko is lamenting this incident, and is afraid to be near anyone because of it.

Kaname Chouyou: Akihiko and Kaname have an interesting Relationship, one Akihiko himself doesn't quite understand.
One thing he does know is that Kana is very supportive of him, and has never let him down when he needed him.
From support during the Clan wars, aiding him in battle, and following him to find Satoshi - Kaname has always been there,
and no matter how strange or exuberant he can be, Akihiko will always consider him a true friend.

Kazue Kitsune: Akihiko and Kazue grew up in the same compound, she often found him training and offered him food.
Though Akihiko would never admit it, he appreciated her sisterly affection - Even if her cooking was a bit sweet for his liking.

Kazue was also one of the shinobi who protected Akihiko when he was injured, and effectively, helped save his life.
Later the two would face off in a deadly match in the tournament finals, a match Akihiko barely won at his best!
After the battle, Akihiko would acknowledge her as the strongest women in the village after her attack.

Yuki Kitsune: Akihiko's Adoptive brother - Over the Time-Skip, their relationship soured considerably.
Yuki blames Akihiko for Tarou's death, and banished him from the compound - A Major cause to Akihiko leaving.

Most say Yuki wants to duel Akihiko, but when Akihiko was felled he checked on him in the hospital.
Though, Akihiko was unconscious and is not aware of Yuki's visit. What is he plotting...?

Raiha Kitsune: Akihiko's Adoptive sister - Much like Yuki, their relationship soured when Tarou died.
She saw Akihiko's leaving as betrayal/abandonment, and has developed a small resentment for him.

Hikari Kitsune: Akihiko's Adoptive mother - Hikari always treated Akihiko as her first son, even if he wasn't blood related.
Even after the rest of her family stopped seeing Akihiko, she still checks up on him from time to time with gifts.
She made him his orange coat, modeled after one of Tarou's from his early days as the Akarikage.

Tarou Kitsune: Akihiko's Adoptive father - They had a very intensive relationship comparable to a game of Cat and Mouse.
Tarou took great interest in Akihiko, who was his oldest (and strongest) child - Often spying on his training or following him.
He also frequently pushed other children to play with him, and pushed girls to try and go out with him (Gently, of course).

It was only after Tarou's death that Akihiko realized just how much he loved Tarou, and as a result - it hit him hard.
Though eventually he got over his passing, it is still not a topic he likes to talk about often or by choice if he can avoid it.
Akihiko is actively trying to follow what Tarou would've done as the Akarikage, he respects him quite heavily and admires him,
considering him perhaps the greatest Akarikage to ever live, as well as the most powerful warrior to ever face him.

Kazuki Minawa: Akihiko came to Kazuki to offer a donation to him out of respect for his former accomplishments,
but as their talk progressed, Kazuki revealed the truth about Akihiko's past - The Crimson snow - and his parents origin.

Though the truth pained him, just knowing meant the world to Akihiko. He has only the utmost respect for Kazuki.

Roku Akamine: Akihiko's most trusted bodyguard. Roku has been a loyal servant, and has protected Akihiko many times.
He has been loyal up until now, and has yet to give him any reason to dislike him. Akihiko sees a lot in Roku's future.

The Nishimura Twins: Akihiko's wackiest Seiei, the twins! Though he's more often than not confused by them,
he has fun taking them on in a 2 vs 1 fight - Unfortunately, when he takes one as a hostage the other one caves,
leading to a usually disappointing ending to the battles. That said, he loves those two crazy sons of bitches.

Tomoe Minawa: A mutual friend of many of Akihiko's, someone who he doesn't know too well.
That said, after an argument during the clan war, they evidently aren't on good terms with each other.

Karigane Asukai: Akihiko's Sealing classmate, and senpai in a way. Though Akihiko is by far stronger,
he acknowledges Karigane's vast superiority in the Sealing arts. As a result, they came up with a deal.
Karigane will help Akihiko learn sealing moves, while Akihiko will teach Karigane curse words he learned abroad.

Katsuo Himura: A young boy Akihiko met for the first time on the way to the Green Sea. Though at first,
he felt sorry for Katsuo who was insecure of his abilities due to his defeats, a feeling Akihiko knew very well.

However, when Satoshi was discovered to be ambushed, Katsuo got quite verbal about Akihiko and his friends.
While Akihiko has dealt with criticism all his life, and wouldn't have minded if it was just him he spoke ill of -
Katsuo addressed the entire group, Akihiko naturally, but also Miki, Enkou, Kana, Takumi, and many others!
As such, he won't be doing Katsuo any favors any time soon - Nobody speaks ill of his closest friends, nobody.

Characters mentioned belong to Myself, Thriaemis , treebot , SuzakuTrip , Jaz-Saxx , MelzyVSoulOfPersephone , Dazed--Flame , NissaNii , Taminki , anch-u , lautte and Delta-Tex .

Update May 6th: That's right - First one to reach a 5.0 (max) Stat - You really are destined to be the Akarikage, aren't you? (Hell atm, no one even has 4.5 - GET ON MY LEVEL)
